Skin concerns
Visible texture and midday shine: a cosmetic approach
Shine and rough texture are cosmetic observations, not diagnoses. Treated cosmetically, both usually respond to the same correction: stop stripping, then support.

Start with the cleanser
High-foam, high-pH cleansers leave skin tight, and tight skin frequently compensates with more surface oil an hour later. A low-foam cleanser used once at night is often the single highest-leverage change.
Then pace one active
A BHA two or three evenings a week addresses visible congestion and roughness without the daily insult of a scrub. Physical scrubs create the smoothness illusion for a day and the roughness for a week.
Match moisturizer texture to your climate
Gel-creams for humid conditions and oily surfaces, richer creams with ceramides for dry air. Skipping moisturizer because skin looks oily is the most common self-inflicted cause of both problems.
When to see a professional
Persistent painful bumps, cystic breakouts, or any changing spot belong with a licensed dermatologist. Cosmetic guidance is not a substitute for a diagnosis.
